Yep... Thats the ticket! I have used this combination on hand brush painted bikes three times now and they look great. My addition is using about 10% Pentitrol. That makes the paint flow real nice and gives some extra time to smooth the surface. If spraying the paint then you need a higher percentage of Penitrol added for a better spray.

The last frame I stripped I used Aircraft Klean-Strip. I also painted the surface with a solution of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to nutralize any chemical on the surfce afterwards. I then made up a mix of 50:50 Penitrol with Denatured alcohol and treated the inside of the frame. This worked much better then using the Linseed Oil mix as it only took about a week to dry here in Central Texas. I have not used Multi-color schemes on my bikes so I am not sure how to handle the bosses. In that I hand brush paint I usually paint the bosses first and then smooth out the paint to the tubes. I cant say enough good things about Rust-Oleume Oil Based Gloss Enamel. Do note that your best result will come from that long, Long, LONG, wait for it to dry. And it is truly worth it.. Ha
