I live in an apartment. I have no garage or carport. My bicycle has a niche to keep it near the wall in my living room. There is also a bike rack outside. My weight has been coming down since I got my new German Shepherd as I'm getting more and more exercise each and every day. I am sure I am overweight for the Schwinn Discover I have now, but it never complained about my heavy frame EXCEPT for the fragile 24-spoke original wheels. I did have to replace the 24-spoke wheels with 36-spoke wheels a few years back as spoke breaking was a common occurrence. Never a busted a spoke since. If I do get an e bike, after my expected significant raise in VA pension benefits in the near future, the Discover will be put up for sale. I will have to get a receiver hitch for my little '95 Corolla and the proper e bike carrier to put on it. I plan mostly to ride in my hometown neighborhood. Sometimes I will want to take the e bike to city parks and bike-ways and will have to transport it by automobile to do that. This e bike will be mostly for streets and paved bike-ways. The road and bike-way grades are only moderate in Des Moines, Iowa. I'm sure that Bosch Performance Line CX Speed will have more than enough gumption to get me anywhere safely around here weather permitting and good weather preferred. It's always better to have more power and never need it than be under-powered and need more muscle from the motor.
I will make it a point to try to try out some e bikes before committing the VISA card. I still love the CANNONDALE name and its excellent reputation for high quality.
My current Schwinn Discover is rated for only 250 pounds. I think bikes, at least the frames, are actually engineered for more weight than manufacturers will list. Liability worries. Lawsuits. It's true that those 24-spoke wheels did not make the cut for my large frame.
