Don't expect much satisfaction from her insurance company. As it stands now, her insurance company is under no obligation to advocate for anyone by their client. If they give you any grief, you're going to need an attorney, unless you've got your own insurance company advocating on your behalf.

In most states it is illegal to open a door into traffic w/o checking that it is clear and safe to do so. In Oregon, the citation is ORS 811.490. A ticket for the motorist would have been useful to establish fault. Definitely file a police report ASAP.
