That's why I thought of one for you. The long version:

You ride to your friend's house for a ride together. During the ride, your tire receives a cut too long too boot. Your friend offers you a front wheel, but it has a QR and you have thru-axles. So he gives you one of his tires and tube and you pedal home.

I realize this story requires having a friend, but pretend you are one of us.

And yes, I have been in a version of this situation where somebody got to complete the ride because of a little ingenuity and some not-quite-right spare parts.
