Were you carrying an entire wheel around with you on your ride?
You cited the examples of someone you are riding with(so you are actively riding when an unrepairable tire failure occurs) or purchased from a small local shop(so you are actively riding when an unrepairable tire failure occurs near a shop).
I mean, yeah- I have given tires to friends before. Ive done it multiple times. Right before riding I have also found an issue with my own tires or with tires on a family bike and swapped out tires or even a whole wheel with a spare one just to save time and get to the fun riding.
For the record, I only have hooked rims on all my bikes and all the family bikes. I have 0 interest in hookless for many reasons, mainly being- the small possible aero benefit isnt worth the risk or extra psi caution, and the easy interchangeability of all my gear.
Your claim was just really funny to see, and since multiple people pushed back on it, that should show it might not be the best example to cite.
