If you are terrified of leaving the house or hate having to interact with humans or whatever other excuse one wants to come up with there are plenty of brick and mortar shops who sell online or many manufacturers sell stuff as well or if you are desperate to avoid a local bike shop entirely and want to give money to something that makes a lot more money then there are purely online bike shops that are a least bike shops and not just random third party sites selling anything including fakes and knockoffs and are not authorized sellers even if they have a possibly "real" product.

Same here. If i have had problems, they have been reasonably solved through ebay or the seller. But very, very few, probably less than 10, in almost 600 transactions.

There's real bike shops that use Ebay for their selling platforms. That's who I buy new stuff from on Ebay or directly from online bike shops. Never Amazon. I have bought a lot of used bike stuff from private sellers on Ebay, never had a significant problem

There might be someone calling themselves a real bike shop but if they are selling say Shimano on a third party platform like ebay they are not an authorized dealer for Shimano and if they had a dealer agreement they are violating that dealer agreement. You would have no real recourse with Shimano and getting a return from ebay doesn't stop people from selling fakes and knockoffs and non-geniune product.
