Maybe for a high hat cymbal.
But if I were to design a bike stand, I'd have a foot pedal operate a clamp so I could use both of my arms to get the bike in the stand instead of one arm to pick up the bike and the other to attempt clamping, adjust clamp, reattempt clamping.
