If you are trying to follow Shimano's instructions, you should shift into the larger chainring & largest (innermost sprocket in rear) and shift to the T-trim on the brifter. Adjust cable tension in this combination so the inner cage just clears the chain.
You can then confirm the tension by shifting to the top position on the brifter with the chain in the big chainring and smallest (outermost sprocket in rear). The chain should still be clear of the outer cage.
When in the low-trim position on the brifter, the chain should be clear of the small chainring/large sprocket. When in the Low position, the chain should be clear for the middle & most of the smaller sprockets.
Depending on the frame, chainring & cassettes some of the combos with extreme chain angles may causing rubbing.
Oh ye, I forgot about this. I tried this today, but no success. Still rubbing in small ring and biggest cog.
