It's preference for the amateur folk and an endurance road bike.
We aren't turning into corners so hard that we need geometry that let's us not brake at all...and that's basically the only way in which speed could be different.

There are a ton of handling differences between brands when it comes to endurance road bikes because each brand views the ideal endurance road bike slightly differently.
Heck, there is usually a handling difference between sizes for the same bike model too.
