Personal opinion, unless you're competitive, I can't really see a reason for clipless. There are some social groups in my area that do both road and off road group rides, and a fair number of them go full gear with clipless even for shorter rides like brewery/bar hopping. Feels like more of a pompous status thing from my prospective.

That said, my bike has the original Lyotard 82s from 1984 on it. They are platform above axle asymmetrical pedals that are light enough to always flip platform down anytime you try to spin them. I'll be putting era correct to clips on them. I'll report back since the last time I used that set up I was probably at the ripe age of 10. I can absolutely see myself abandoning the era correct route and getting some good sealed bearing flats with replaceable pins.
