Such a dumb system. You had QRs which have worked for around a century and thru-axles which have worked at least 2 decades but Trek said "we need to combine the worst parts of both into one giant fail because if we don't innovate junk who will?"

Sorry you got stuck with that. One would think on a nicer carbon bike it would be thru-axle in 2025 but Trek gotta be Trek.
