I wonder about the 1200s; there are a few hanging up in the shop with forks. I assume the 4900s would have had some sort of entry-level RST on them. Pretty sure the shop just bought out the warranty frames when Trek sold them cheap through their dealer network.
I've just been told there's another pile of frames likely. Unless I can make these go away quick, I don't think I have the capacity for them.

Back sometime in the early or mid-1990's, I happened to ask our area sales rep what effect on their business, if any, Trek had seen as a result of replacing most of their steel bikes with aluminum models. He said that the main effect they'd seen was that warranty replacements of frames were way down.
So it makes sense that they'd have ended up with a bunch of warranty frames left over.
