In the process of rebuilding the hubs on an old wheel set and using the Park Tool PPL-1 grease. Should I use something different since the hubs have rubber dust caps? I have a tube of lithium grease from Finish Line but wasn’t sure if it would be suitable here. Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I seem to remember hearing that petroleum based grease degrades rubber but I could be mistaken.
Most* of the rubber-like parts used on bikes won't degrade significantly on contact with petroleum-based oil or grease.
* There are some parts that shouldn't have contact with oil or grease, like tyres and brake blocks.
