bump bump bump

I have new bar tape in hand, I need to figure out this hood situation, so I can replace everything at once (esp if I need to remove the brake levers entirely off the drop bars just to replace the hoods)

help? Anybody else out there with Retroshifters/Genevalle's, with tips on how they have replaced hoods before?
