When I was a kid, my friends and I played bike soccer. We played in our local schoolyard usually when school was out. The gates were locked, but we hoisted our bikes over the fence and went at it. Kicking a soccer ball is more difficult that using a mallet and there were a few high speed crashes. Since we were playing on an asphalt surface, falling was painful. But, OMG was it ever fun. Similarly, we used to play full tackle football without any protection almost anywhere we could find a decent size grassy area. Nobody was hurt, but falling in a pile of dog poop wasn't unusual
Full tackle "British Bulldog". tackle tag, a winter sport. Even we wouldn't try it in a paved playground in summer
Never played many organized sports, mostly just ones we made up for ourselves
