I was going to bring up this point. Years ago…maybe before the internet…I read a thing from a guy who raced a lot of criterium…lots of sharp turns. He indicated that running the shorter cranks enabled him to pedal through turns, faster, while leaning, and thereby was producing more power over a longer distance = faster per lap.
