if it's a front tire, put it on the rear... front flats can cause more serious injuries...

i agree with the "plugs are temporary" concept.
and i toss out tubes that need a third patch.
two is cool, three ain't for me.

as to the possibility of damaged cords... watch for ANY cord creep allowing a bulge in the tire... frequently check for any sign, like every time you dismount.
