Yah BMC heavily discounted because way overpriced and selling like lead balloons. I have seen them at the LBS a block from me and ONE in the wild.
Broom bar, silly rack, lower seat stay, fenders are solid but 3" too short, no thanks.
For $1,100 there's the Brooklyn Driggs with 8i, hydro disc brakes, half sweep bar, chain guard, fenders, mid fork bolt, really nice frame with minimal slope.
Priority Eight is similar at $1,430 with straight bar and belt.
Here's my roadster all rounder. Came with Nexus 7i and boat anchor roller breaks. Converted to my SA wheels, XL-FDD and XL-RD5w. I can mix the wheels any way I want. Not possible with thru axle BS. I didn't like most of the components, some were outright unusable garbage. Most stupid of all was it didn't come with bottle mounts. Nuts.
Then a month ago I tried it with my Rohloff14 and rode it 87 miles without the shifter and rear brake. LOL
