Fuji was a popular brand in Suburban NY when I was a teenager, I saw many of them but usually just the lower models.

Your choice of rear derailer should work well with the big freewheel and modern chain, especially as the chain gap is not easily adjustable on these types.

I missed this thread when it started, just seeing it (and this bike) now for the first time.

Gearing-wise, you're all set for our foothills and then some, so maybe I'll be running into you around the Auburn/Newcastle area.
