The last model Hit, D6, was their bargain basement, last of the steel frames I think, and 6 speed freewheel and not freehub I think. Their econo model for the pandemic. Notably, after Deltech was introduced and then removed from all of the aluminum models it seemed, Deltech remained on the steel D6. I theorized that it was due to the front welded attachment fatiguing in aluminum, it always looked a bit lightweight to me, and a later Japanese market model had that front cable attaching to a ring on the lower steer tube of the fork, seeming to confirm my suspicion, but no certain evidence or info online.
Now, this new Hit looks aluminum frame to me, due to tube diameters, weld gusset, and weld appearance. But there is the Deltech again, and connecting to a small welded tab on the underside of the main tube, as before. Maybe this is just the previous Mariner frame design. I hope the new Hit is value priced with decent components that function well, if not ultralight.
