I can't say for sure that I would not be here in the Classic and Vintage forum if it weren't for Rivendell and Grant's ideas/opinions, but it was definitely an important early step. My frames were too small and my tires too skinny before I encountered Rivendell on the internet. I don't actually own a Rivendell but I have thought long and hard about them over the years. I enjoy reading about other's experiences with them. I was searching for A Homer Hilsen reviews and this thread popped up and I decided to reread it.

Are you still running the 43mm tires ascherer ? Do you think you could squeeze bigger tires in there with fenders? I ask because I have this ongoing fantasy that there is a bike out there that could be my "one" bike that would allow me to sell everything else off. (It isn't necessary to sell my other bikes, I just have this ongoing idea of living very simply and owning much less stuff). The Hilsen and the Sam Hillbourne from Rivendell both fit that in my mind along with a few other bikes.
