Today (Sunday 11/9) there is an interesting article in the NYT on Sierra Club's flirtation with social justice and its negative impact on membership and budget.
Are you sure that's not an article about Adventure Cycling - just with the names changed to protect the innocent?
Here's a comment from the NYT column - it sounds exactly like some on this forum -
"I was a donor to the Sierra Club in the past. But when they took their eyes off the ball of protecting the environment to expand to a broad social justice movement they lost me. Sure, those causes need attention and support but the Sierra Club to me was always laser focused on preserving our wild, underdeveloped parks and lands and fighting fossil fuels. Especially now, with a government that is hell bent on exploiting and destroying our pristine lands, we need a strong advocate to fight back. Sadly, it’s no longer the Sierra Club."
