If, however, you want to do longer rides and partake in C&V events drop bars are the way to go, if I am to believe mrs non-fixie.

On her De Vos I first tried this setup. Philippe sports bars with drop bar levers:



But this is how she now prefers it:



Her Mercier was originally also fitted with Philippe sports bars and MAFAC city levers. But they don't provide much leverage, and her fingers hurt from squeezing them on longer or more treacherous descents:



It now sports randonneur bars and guidonnet levers:
