It`s due to my feet condition called underpronation. A normal pedal setup does not "line up" symmetrically with your hips and shoulders. Think of it as a V shape where the top of the V is your shoulders and the bottom is your feet when viewed from the front. I am pretty wide over my shoulders and waist and adding the pronation, these extenders help alleviate this tendency making more of the underside of the foot rest easy against the surface of the pedal (in my case flat pedals which also helps) Guess you had no idea about this eh? Well, nobody`s perfect..
