Friction makes noise. Friction causes wear. Guess what noisy hubs are doing.
except the CF rim and frame resonance is a well known and documented thing, so... buy a pair if you want light, responsive rims that echo just about every crack, click, and rough road surface.
some are a bit quieter, but still loud compared to aluminum.

PS.. pressurized Tires resonate too. especially ones inflated to the higher pressures in the operation range.
