It wound up being a long ride on a folding bike on a gravel trail often blanketed in leaves. I was ready to be done at Mile 40, but still had 50 to go.
I saw more deer than people on the trail, and the people were in the town sections. (9 vs. 6) One of the people was a bowhunter, looking for deer. I hope she got lucky. They are like rats up there, except that they’re huge. I saw a couple that must’ve been well over 150 pounds.
(Edit: males weigh 100-300 lbs., females 75-200) I saw one massive buck that must've been over 200 lbs.)
Temperature was not a problem. I actually brought too many clothes. The ski gloves wound up being too warm and I only needed one sweatshirt under my jacket.
Most of the trail looked like this
Check out these old triple rail tracks!
A covered bridge. Only the façade and roof are wood, they’re built over a regular steel bridge. Probably with the aim to stand up to snowmobile use.
Someone left his deer skull in the middle of the trail
