That's me in the spotlight.
Hiya Folks,
Back in the bad old days of Covid there was an article in the Guardian about Roff Smith:
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...world-expanded
He's a professional photographer for National Geographic and others, and a keen cyclist.
During Covid Lockdown (UK) travel wasn't allowed except for exercise so he took to his bike and photographed "a cyclist" (himself) in the landscape within 12 miles of his home.
The results are stunning:

That was 5 years back (March 2020) and I've finally got around to trying it myself.
You need a tripod and camera and some sort of timer so you can set it to take a pic every few seconds.
I got a cheap Canon TC-80N3 timer yesterday and the sun almost came out this afternoon so I've just done my first outing
It was mostly a check that the technique and gear works but also:
.
Nobody tried to nick the camera
No dogs ran under the tripod
No e-bike hooligans ran into me or the tripod
.
That was a concern since I have to set up the tripod then move 50 yards away and cycle back.
The results do lack some (almost all) artistic merit but technically they work:
St Mary's Pier, Wandsworth (Battersea rail bridge in background)
Albert Bridge from Chelsea Embankment (Battersea power station on skyline)
I think I need to work on the artistic aspects so expect more bad photos.
Or have a go yourself
Edit: For those that want to know
