How's it on asphalt? The biggest possible issue I can see from the cart is that the crossover shifts are 4 cogs. A brifter will only give you 3. I'd bet that indexed barcons would mostly solve that. For friction, my limit for shift pattern is 2.5-step, and even that's a bit annoying.
