Looks like all the brakes needed was an adjustment and new cables. Well I only lubed them, but they’re much better. I also tore the calipers down a clean and lube, but they were brand new inside so kudos to tektro for that after 10+ years. I also sanded the pads to a fresh surface since I didn’t want to pay $25 per wheel locally (same ones are $15 per pair online).

After some howling on the break in, they’re great. They’re not very good at modulation, but I can now lock up both wheels at full speed. I also see that it won’t take much practice to get the left/right thing down. It becomes intuitive after a few minutes. Kinda like it has power steering for the stop.
