Stuff's been out there for 40+ years and must be on a million+ bikes. It does work but feels a little clunky, working as it does to "simplify and foolproof" that newfangled derailleur shifting for newbies or non-enthusiasts. If you ever had to coach a customer on shifting utilizing one of those Schwinn countertop demonstrators you would not wonder why so many FFS bikes sold.
