Sorry I'm late to the party but as mentioned a good quality punch would be a must. A "bench block" as used by gunsmiths, and I guess maybe jewelers and watchmakers and others would be very helpful too
They are built for just this purpose, getting pins pins out of often uneven surfaces at odd angles.
