I did get this bike on the stand and put on a new chain to test things a bit. The Uniglide did shift properly with careful derailleur adjustment. The stock Hyperglide though did shift much nicer. Of course one can’t be too sure it won’t skip with the new chain on there now. If I order some parts, I see that a Shimano Hyperglide 6 speed 500 series freewheel is only $15, so I would probably just order one too. As an aside, this bike has a cheaper claw mount RD, an Altus I think but the label is missing. The upper floating pulley doesn’t seem to have as much side to side float range as a Deore XT I recently put on another bike. I might as well keep a Hyperglide on it.
