As a Summer volunteer activity I served as a "wilderness forest ranger". There were some photographers who requested support to get to darkest places for one or two nights. They mostly knew where to go, but had multiple cameras and motorized tripods and gear. Call me a willing pack animal for the experience. It was educational, tho' maybe an extra 10-15 pounds on my back. One guy really liked planetary alignments, ... I never stayed awake as long as they did.
