Today I dont bother with them anymore, after several consecutive 7,000+ mile years I go to the gym or ride my fatbike (with poagies) on those really cold days.
nice

I use the straight bar bikes more in general now. the road bike still has it's mitts on, so it's last ride was a cold one. can't remember when that was tho. out of state obligations have kept me off the bikes, the past 3 years. good news tho, I have no new injuries & I'm in the gym regularly during the week

when I did ride the road bike w/ mitts, it's with the understanding that convenience, performance & agility will be compromised. my cold weather rides are usually only an hour or so. mitts are better suited for my straight bar bikes. you can hold the bars normally & shift & brake normally
