Sometimes bikes go forever without changes or upgrades. Sometimes they got modified before they even reached the customer, or by the customer at some later point. They are far less reliable than features of the frame for identification. I am most familiar with what is in the catalogues intended for the US market. Hopefully you can find your ID here, BUT... I also belong to several FB groups about vintage Raleighs, and there are still plenty of folks who worked in those factories, or who watched what came out of them very closely in some of those groups. That is another avenue to consider.
