Unless your caliper isn't parallel to the rotor. Check by looking at the gaps.
Caliber is parallel to rotor.
Most likely the new pads are too thick since the previous identical pads installed by the maker caused no problem. I assumed that pads thicknesses have close tolerances, but there must be slight variants within the same pads. One indications was that after a short run in the drag was less.
