If you had to tear a meniscus, avulsed off the bone sounds like the best way. Bone is metabolically active and vascular, cartilage, not so much. To my nonmedical mind (this is the internet after all) that is a good thing.

The best type of tear is when they can go in and trim off the frayed bits. The worst is when they have to stitch it back down to keep it from folding under and causing pain and immobility. I'm closer to the bad than the good.
At this point, I'm in limbo. Having a problem that's completely debilitating but non life threatening. Not enough for the Ortho trauma guys to deal with but it sucks hard waiting for he sports med guys to get to me. I'm hoping to have a better idea by Tuesday or Wednesday.
