Took forever but the fork was finally finished late last year. Here's how it looked when I got it back. Yes, the steerer was a mile long, I wanted it way longer than I knew I'd need so I could cut it down to the length I wanted after playing around with spacers and stem combinations. The repair is visible just above the clamp.
Apologies in advance for the grainy quality of the photos. The aperture on the main camera lens in my phone isn't working correctly so I have to switch to the wide angle lens and zoom in. Really gotta fix that.
I finally had the time and remembered to talk to my brother about coming into the shop over the weekend as he's got the specialty tools needed for the fork swap.
I'd been running a fork off another frame during the last year and a half, here's a photo of the temporary fork compared the repaired fork after I cut it down to the length I wanted.
And a photo of the finished product ready to go. Don't mind the lack of zip ties on the wheel speed sensor wire running down the fork, didn't have any small zipties at the shop so I waited until I got home where I had a few I could throw on.
Yes I know the steerer is on the tall side but it sure makes it comfortable for longer rides.
