sure - I could get clubbed over the head here, have my bike stolen... but still be in the USA. Where I could call someone to pick me up... get an uber, talk to the police.
If they clubbed you over the head with an intent to rob you they would most likely take not only your bicycle but also your smartphone, your wallet, your credit cards etc and you wouldn't be able to call police or call for help. Also depending on what they used as a club and how hard they hit you, you might not even be alive or you might be in deep coma.
