While we're talking "pills and ills," I had to take a vision test at the DMV. People that I had asked had told me that I would be taking the test with both eyes simultaneously and since I see better than 20/20 with my right eye, I wasn't too worried though my left eye tested 20/100 corrected a couple weeks ago.
So, they had this fancy new to me machine to look in to and I see three columns. Lady says read line 6 and I read the letters in the center column and the right column. The left column is just a white rectangle. Lady asks if I'm impaired in my left eye. I didn't realize the machine is detecting/checking the eyes individually and together all at the same time. I get a minor lecture for not telling her in advance but of course, I still pass; I just need two mirrors and have a notation on my license.
Anyway, I found the machine to be intriguing because I couldn't fathom how it separated the eyes but then again, lots can be done with optics. Still cool.
