Saw the podiatrist today. Got x-rayed and he showed me on the screen where the new bone is forming but it has a long way to go. It has to fill in a 2mm gap at the outside of the bone. Going back in 2 weeks for another look, but if things continue to improve there will be no surgery needed.

Seems they were a little behind schedule as I sat in the waiting room for about an hour, then another 20+ minutes waiting for the doc after the pics were snapped.
Waiting room features scratchy 80s hits played too loud on what sounded like just tweeters. Kids playing and watching kid shows on a phone. A baby crying who was mercifully removed to the parking lot by her dad. Stuffy in there and when one of the patients went out she left the door open. Since I was stationed next to the door I appreciated the fresh air until one of the employees came out and closed it.
