These teenagers have been conditioned by toxic car culture and their entitled parents behind the wheel. This isn't just coincidence or random. This is the result of behaviors that encourage egregious behavior behind the wheel.
As I was riding around the same local park I mention above yesterday, a "bad-ass" looking BMW sedan with illegal tinted windows pulled up to the red light, and, of course, OVER the limit line and into the crosswalk. (Again, very busy park with peds, kids, etc.) This driver sat there for about five seconds, and then just blew on through the red light.
Three days ago, I'm driving my mother home from an appointment. We are waiting at the red light where crossing guards are found when school gets out. A pedestrian is waiting at the crosswalk about to cross in front of us. A driver in the right-turn only lane comes up and just BLOWS THROUGH THE RED as they turn right. This ped MAY have wanted to or have stepped off the curb to cross. Luckily he didn't.
This running red lights while making right turns is EPIDEMIC. In my busy commercial district, pedestrians are everywhere. I got to the corner in front of our popular theater and intended to cross with the green crosswalk sign when a ******* just blew on through the red light as I made my intentions clear.
This **** needs $1,000+ fines and vehicle impound!
Red light, stop sign running and egregious behavior behind the wheel is so out of control. I'm SO SICK of it. It's mostly the criminals driving unregistered cars as they prey upon society IMO. I live in an area where unregistered and stolen cars are common. Despite being a great, vibrant neighborhood in the SF Bay Area.

Even the "good" drivers are scofflaws behind the wheel...
A year or so ago, I happened observed in the left-turn center lane, a motorcyclist was stopped. In the right lane, a nice, shiny Mercedes SUV was stopped and blocking the lane. Upon returning about 30 minutes later, I noticed the motorcyclist was still on the side of the road. I had my suspicions, so I pulled over to ask the motorcyclist what happened. I first asked if he was ok and he was.
Then he confirmed my suspicions. The driver of the Mercedes SUV (big, black shiny and expensive) pulled out of her diagonal space as the motorcyclist was approaching. She then stopped in the right lane, the motorcyclist assumed she saw him, so he proceeded to drive past her in the #1 lane. Well, this was his mistake. Instead of seeing him, she instead pulled an ILLEGAL u-turn into his path! He was knocked off and bruised, but otherwise ok. But his motorcycle wouldn't re-start, so he was waiting for a tow.
Luckily, this driver was responsible and stopped and shared her ID & insurance information. HOWEVER, she then said she should rush off to see her physician to get a check up! Why? Because she was PREGNANT! She was worried that maybe the collision could have affected her developing baby, so she was off to the doctor.
Hey! Maybe CHOOSE to drive responsibly in the first place and not break the law and then endanger and HIT other people! And about a million times more when you're PREGNANT!
Nope, the selfish "me, me, me!" driver does what they want. That's driver entitlement right there.
This street is "littered" with "NO U-TURNS" signs every block. Yet drivers disregard it with habitual impunity.
