An 8th GC (out of 40-something in 40+) is nothing to write home about but may be the highlight of my season. It is a specialist's race (w stage 1 TT) and guys come across the country for it so I guess I'm a little proud of it. At any rate I'm kinda tired and ready to stop training and racing so hard... . Been a tough season mostly due to illness hampering my training since Lily started preschool right in my base season.
I still love to ride my bike and get tan so the kits will get plenty of usage for me over the summer, just not much in races since I'm kinda wrapped up.
RE: kit color, we had some pretty strong opposition from the road teams with last year's black colorway. Gets too hot, and is poor for safety/visibility on the road. I mostly train in the early morning in my garage but I totally get that so we came up with a lighter colorway this year
This is kind of the transition point of my season. I've been geared towards punchy XC races all spring, but now will start doing 4+ hour events into summer and fall. It would be nice to have a new skinsuit in time for a gravel race a couple weekends from now, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Even our dark colorway, for this year, should be visible enough on the road. Although most of my road miles are on some very quiet roads. We've had some fairly bright/colorful kits in years past...I'd even say garish in certain editions, last year's actually had a refined look in comparison. At least we didn't have the leopard-print bottoms that another local team was rocking for a couple seasons.
