The last couple times I rode from home during the week, I ran afoul of the "kids getting out of school" traffic. Too many cars, and probably not paying enough attention to the old guy on the bike. Alameda de las Pulgas has SIX schools in what amounts to the last 2.5 miles of my return trip, and it seems like they stagger their inmate release times to make sure the traffic jam lasts a long time. What this adds up to is that if I don't get out on the road before about 1 PM, I WILL be stuck in that traffic.
I cannot wait for school to be out for the summer!!!
Anyhow, because of this, the last two days I rode ITG, having missed my window. Yesterday I did the Greatest London Loop, which include s the Leith Hill climb, which I gather is sort of a benchmark climb for people living in the South of England. I hadn't intended to, and I sure didn't think I was going to, but I managed a
PR on the climb, which I've done at last 10 times before. Gratifying, since I'm not getting any younger! Turns out there is some advantage to having been fat and lazy for years, in that I can still snag PRs at 68, because I am faster and more fit now than when I was younger!!
Kinda ironic that it was a sunny day IRL, but I got rained on in the virtual world.
