Bikes: 1962 Rudge Sports, 1971 Raleigh Super Course, 1971 Raleigh Pro Track, 1974 Raleigh International, 1975 Viscount Fixie, 1982 McLean, 1996 Lemond (Ti), 2002 Burley Zydeco tandem

I had a walking errand to do before I headed to work, and I'm taking the bus upstate after work so I could not take my bike. I decided to do something unusual, and I grabbed a Citi Bike e-bike, or as I like to say, Cit-E-Bike. I'm convinced they retuned the bikes to have a maximum speed of 16 mph. Yesterday I rode behind one and checked my speed as I paced behind. Today I rode one, and I found that if I pedaled really hard I could get it up to 17 or 18 but it was past a point of diminishing returns. The bike has no gears or ratio adjuster and it doesn't seem to matter. Maybe there's a CVT in the drive hub? Anyway, I'm glad they tuned it down to 16 mph because the skill-to-speed ratio with some riders is much too low.

So ridewithgps notified that I made a personal record on this route. Yeah, I wish I could turn that off for e-bikes.
