Today wasn't a "Cycling God" day. It was more of a "Cycling Demigod" day. You gotta have those every so often. Makes it easier to maintain motivation.
On Sand Hill a guy passed me, shortly after the turn off of Santa Cruz. I decided to try and keep contact, and not let him just ride away, so I ended up doing that climb at about 1-2 mph faster than usual, and amazed myself by not blowing up. I ended up passing him on the next hill, but that meant I couldn't let off the effort or we'd be playing Leapfrog and that's just embarrassing, though more embarrassing with a woman than with a younger, fitter guy. Anyhow, with one thing or another, I stayed ahead of him till I turned off.
I think I'd have easily scored a
PR for the whole route, but the headwind on Canada was just "Too, too, utterly, utterly"
