It's funny how that works. I started out as engineering intern at age 18. After awhile, the program was cancelled and I found myself working way more than going to school due to needing the money. Soon, the promotions far outweighed the degree and by that time, people assumed I was an engineer and back in the 70's, I could actually get hired with the title despite never finishing school. Try that today.

Anyway, at engineering conventions, when people asked, I just called myself a construction manager or construction engineer where licensed engineers don't get their hackles up or look down their nose at those titles. With regular people, I use my actual engineering title.
