Actually it was a first hand anecdote, since it happened to me, the OP. But I wasn't trying to call into question the guy's right to ride on the sidewalk or anywhere else that it's legal. It is not illegal to ride on the sidewalk here, although the more i think about it, the more I think it should be banned here. I'm planning to talk to my council member about this. In this city, sidewalk riding is illegal only in the main downtown shopping area. That doesn't make much sense to me. It should be illegal in all shopping areas. I could have gotten hurt! Even worse, he could have messed up my bike.
