I think the most interesting thing about finding things on the side of the road is the possible story behind then getting there, or thinking of the person that might have owned the item. At some point they must have cared enough to buy the item, but for some things (like the many cellphones I've seen) there must have been some reason for them to be thrown out the window.
Ha. Last summer I was toodling around town on the bike trolling for something to photograph. Zipping along the road in a "less than stellar" neighbourhood, I passed a little pink "sexual device" sitting upright on the sidewalk. I laughed to myself and went on a bit. Then I thought that might be worthy of some type of distorted photo (ok, sometimes I think I am an artist). So I turn around and head back. When I get to the spot there is an ambulance parked there. Well I wasnt going to get down on my belly and photograph a little bit o' kink with them there. So much for my artistic break-through.
