Mike, it sounds like you've had alot of bad luck with your Benz's. Sorry to hear, though I can honestly say that I've had no where near the amount of issues that you have. (knocks on wood) It make make you feel better to read some Jaguar/Land Rover forums --- the owners of those have it really bad.
